Today was a lesson in listening to my body and what it needs. Today, it needed:
-more sleep
-a break
-more food

More Sleep
I overslept today...correction, I got up then went back to sleep and accidentally slept through my second alarm and woke up just 20 mins before class started.
Or, was it an accident?
Even though I was almost late and didn't have time to eat a proper breakfast, my body felt very well rested, which is way more important.

A Break
I was in a lot of pain during my first morning class. So much to the point that I almost started involuntarily crying. I ended up coming back to my room after that class and not going to my second one. Even though I would have had to come back anyways because I left something in my room, I knew I shouldn't come back. Instead, I grabbed some food, took a couple Advil, elevated my leg and Skyped my parents and my best friend. Physical and metal health are extremely important. This time last year, at my school back home, I would have long been neglecting both and  my Lupus would honestly be in  much worse shape.

No, I'm not happy I miss class. But I am proud of myself for taking a break, which is also something I don't normally do so I can try and make this winter as less painful as possible. The Advil ended up working, so now,  instead of doing what I did today, I can try taking one so I don't have to miss class again. I was also able to get a head start on my work, which might put me back on schedule for the rest of this week!

More Food
So whenI woke up late, my whole food schedule got thrown off. Womp. I ended up eating nuts during class for a light snack because I knew I wasn't going to last without something in me, a treat for brunch (pastries and coffee). (Sidenote: Even though I'm still working on beating my pastry habit, I did have a small victory in the store when I put my usual loaf of bread back! I also had another small victory in not getting a 前饼 and just getting pastries instead. Between the two, I think they are worse for you and they honestly make me sick, which I ignore whenever I get it, but not today! ) Fast forward another snack (more nuts) and a super late lunch (5:00) and I was a still hungry.

There's no point in being legitimately hungry, especially when I'm aware of caloric intake and the nutrients I put into my body earlier that day. I realized today that it's completely plausible that I can still be hungry after eating HUGE bowl or carrots and broccoli with the day I haven't because I just did't eat enough earlier. Not super happy that I did another round of rice, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. In the long run, I think it'll be ok ;)


Lots of small victories today. Today worked out pretty well. I also got some approvals for things and compliments on others so I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now haha.
